An alarm monitoring centre receiving video feeds rarely relies on a single manufacturer. Recorders, cameras and AI-powered video analytics often come from different ecosystems. These systems then need to communicate with the alarm monitoring software that processes the alerts.
With this in mind, Azursoft is announcing a new compatibility. Scalia, STIM’s newly launched video platform, is now compatible with Horus. Events and alarms from the Scalia ecosystem can now be handled by Horus operators in real time.
STIM, a French manufacturer of video recorders and video software
STIM has been designing and manufacturing video surveillance solutions since 1986. The company is based near Montpellier, France. It covers the entire value chain, from component sourcing to recorder manufacturing. Software development is also handled in-house.
Its R&D department brings together around fifteen hardware and software engineers and developers. STIM provides solutions for organisations operating in security-critical sectors, including banking, defence, industry, energy, healthcare and retail.
Cybersecurity is built into STIM products from the design stage. Its recorders run on Linux and feature dual network interfaces to isolate the camera network from the customer’s network. An external company regularly carries out penetration testing. STIM is also ONVIF-compliant.
The company is also actively committed to CSR, with initiatives including eco-design, carbon footprint assessments and an EcoVadis Silver rating.
Scalia, a unified ecosystem designed for video operations
Scalia is STIM’s newly launched platform. It brings hardware, configuration software and AI-powered video analytics together within a single ecosystem. Consulting, training and maintenance services complete the offering.
For video analytics, SCALIA leverages the artificial intelligence capabilities embedded in compatible cameras to detect and process various events, including people counting, vehicle detection, line crossing and motion detection.
The platform uses metadata generated directly by AI-enabled cameras, allowing events to be centralised and integrated into monitoring scenarios.
The CS100 software completes the SCALIA ecosystem, enabling multiple sites to be monitored from a single interface.
On the hardware side, SC-E series recorders support up to 40 Full HD cameras. Cameras are configured via ONVIF, while video streams are transmitted via RTSP in unicast or multicast mode. Storage capacity can reach 26 TB per drive, with additional capacity available through a RAID expansion unit.
Horus, our alarm monitoring software, now receives Scalia streams
Recorders and analytics modules within the Scalia ecosystem can transmit their events and alarms to multiple receivers. Horus, Azursoft’s alarm monitoring software, is now one of them.
When an alert is triggered, the information is sent directly to the Horus operator in real time. The operator can then perform video verification without switching interfaces or workstations.
Horus and Scalia are not new to each other. Horus front-end systems were already among the alarm monitoring platforms recognised by STIM. This validation officially confirms compatibility with this new generation of the platform.
With SCALIA, our aim was to provide an open video ecosystem capable of integrating seamlessly into our customers’ and partners’ environments. Its compatibility with Horus is fully aligned with this approach: it enables alarm monitoring centres to handle events generated by SCALIA directly from their existing operational software, while maintaining their usual workflows. This is an important milestone in the deployment of Scalia and in our commitment to making our solutions easier to integrate and interoperable.

What this compatibility means for alarm monitoring centres
For alarm monitoring centres, this compatibility brings practical benefits to day-to-day operations. Teams can add STIM recorders and video analytics to their existing infrastructure without having to implement a separate commissioning process.
For installers, deployment remains straightforward. SCALIA recorders automatically detect cameras on the network, reducing the amount of configuration required on site.
Remote monitoring remains available 24/7. Operators handle Scalia video streams using the same tools they already use for other systems integrated with Horus. They can perform video verification without switching interfaces.
